Called to love, serve, & seek justice in our city
Jesus calls us to embody his presence & proclaim his Kingdom.
He calls us to love Him by loving our neighbor. This is both a great privilege & a great responsibility. It involves proclamation & presence, word & deed. It involves working toward Kingdom justice for all of creation. Here you’ll find some areas in which we plug-in & serve. These are opportunities to reflect the love of Jesus & the power of the Kingdom through service, reconciliation work, compassion, & mercy.
Mother's Day through Father's Day :: Join in the annual Hope Pregnancy Clinic baby bottle campaign. This is the main fundraiser for this non-profit. We believe deeply in the mission of Hope Clinic & we partner with them throughout the year in various ways to serve the women in crisis in our city. Would you help save the lives of many women & children with your spare change? Pick up a bottle on Sunday morning & drop in your change. We ask that you return the bottle, filled to the brim, on Father's Day, June 16th.
Each Winter Season :: Our friends at Salem First Presbyterian have a warming center where those without homes can spend their nights in comfort & peace. We've committed to help out by sending volunteers as much as we can. There are three different shifts that you can sign up for, ranging between 6:30 pm to 7 am the next morning. Twice a Year :: We have been saved by grace through faith, so that Jesus can continue God’s mission of renewal & restoration through the church, his body on the earth! So twice a year on Sundays, instead of merely coming to a service, we go out into the city to love & serve our neighbors & to partner with God in bringing his shalom to our city. We do this through completing sorely needed work/service projects at various non-profit sites around town.
Throughout the Year :: We partner with local non-profit Ariana House to bless & serve refugee families resettled in Salem. Watch this space to learn about our next partnership project w/ Ariana House.
Twice a Year :: We take seriously our divine mandate to be good stewards of God's good creation & to join him in the renewal, restoration, & reconciliation of all things through Jesus. This includes caring for the physical creation. So we join with local non-profit Salem Friends of Trees & we go out into our local parks to tend to the existing plant life & plant new shrubs, bushes, & trees. Watch this space here for the next work day (once in the Fall & once in the Spring).
