Called to love, serve, & seek justice in our city
Jesus calls us to embody his presence & proclaim his Kingdom.
He calls us to love Him by loving our neighbor. This is both a great privilege & a great responsibility. It involves proclamation & presence, word & deed. It involves working toward Kingdom justice for all of creation. Here you’ll find some areas in which we plug-in & serve. These are opportunities to reflect the love of Jesus & the power of the Kingdom through service, reconciliation work, compassion, & mercy.
All Winter Long :: Our friends at Salem First Presbyterian have a warming center where those without homes can spend their nights in comfort & peace. They always need volunteers to help serve the guests & keep everyone safe. There are three different shifts that you can sign up for, ranging between 6:30 pm to 7 am the next morning. Dec. 23rd - 25th, @ Aldersgate Camp in Turner, OR :: We can help out in many different ways as the greater church community in Salem invites our friends without homes to a two-night stay & four meals at Aldersgate Camp in Turner, Oregon. It is our hope to host them as Jesus himself. Last year we saw the radical impact of making space for 192 people at our table & family celebrations. This year we hope to house 150-200 people for two nights, share four meals, & celebrate the incarnation of Jesus together. Sign up to serve
Every Second Saturday Morning, 8:30am @ Cafe Shine :: Join Salem House of Prayer & Be Bold Street Ministry in serving a hot breakfast to & engaging in meaningful conversation with those who society often considers to be the "least of these".
Monday, January 7th, 12pm @ Salem Alliance :: This meeting is a great opportunity to stay educated on what is happening with refugee resettlement in Salem, to engage in welcoming our newest neighbors, and to network with others who are involved. On January 7th, there will be a special training session on the topic of trauma with guest speaker, trainer & author E'rma Brundidge.
March 24th - 26th @ the US/Mexico Border :: The Immigrant’s Journey Learning Trip at the border is an immersion experience to learn first-hand about immigration & the Kingdom of God.
